The Break
Patricia Duong, a Broadcast and Digital Journalism graduate student on the Sports Media Communications at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
As the Founder and President of the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) chapter at Syracuse, she is driven by a sincere desire to reshape media narratives and advocate for underrepresented communities.
“Growing up as a first-generation Asian American, I’ve felt a strong responsibility to authentically represent my community. My mission is to challenge biases and bring attention to stories that often go unnoticed.
With a genuine passion for sports, I aim to pursue a career in sports broadcasting to humanize athletes and share their personal journeys with authenticity. As a former athlete myself, I understand the importance of highlighting the stories behind the players.
In addition to my love for traditional sports media, I have a particular passion for combat sports coverage, which reflects my personal interests and commitment to diversity in storytelling.
I am eager to bring a fresh perspective, dedication to authenticity, and a genuine enthusiasm for diversity to your organization.”
